The Christian Community Cupboard:
St. Monica's and 5 other churches in the Lubeck area (Lubeck United Methodist, Washington United Methodist, Fairview United Methodist, New England Baptist, and Lubeck Community Baptist) provide for the needs of people in our community through the Christian Community Cupboard in Lubeck.
The Cupboard is open on Thursdays, from 10 am until 12 noon. It is located on Homewood Road in Lubeck, near Lubeck United Methodist Church.
St. Monica's provides workers for the Cupboard on the third Thursday of every month. If you'd like to share your time, contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
The main source of supplies and income is the "Food Basket Sunday" donation of food and money at Mass on the first Sunday of each month. Cash donations are always welcome. The Joyful Noise music ministry donates any "love offerings" received when sharing music with other churches or community groups
We are responsible for seeing that the following items are in good supply:
canned meats: chili, Spam, Treat, ham, beef stew
The Cupboard is counting on us to provide the items listed above.
St. Monica Parish is involved in several ecumenical social ministries in our community. These include:
In addition, St. Monica's Special Projects Fund is used to help needy families with emergencies, special circumstances, and those in need who come to the Christian Community Cupboard (see above - also known as the Food Pantry/Clothes Closet). We do this primarily through special collections, although donations are always welcome. (Contact: email@example.com )
Our baby and lap quilt, walker bag and adult bib project now meets at the Senior Citizen Center on Market Street every Tuesday.
