OUR SEDER MEAL

The Seder Meal is a sacred Jewish ritual celebrated on Passover. For thousands of years Jews have recalled and celebrated their deliverance by God from slavery in Egypt. The synoptic Gospels indicate that Jesus, a devout Jew, was celebrating Passover with his disciples the night He instituted the Eucharist.

It is becoming familiar in many parishes and Catholic homes to participate in a Passover Seder during Holy Week to learn about and acknowledge our common roots in the history of salvation.

The photos below (from 2009) show the components of the feast. Here are additional photos - from Seder Meal 2010.

Preparing the meal as a family is important when the feast is a family celebration...

...and bonds can be strengthened in the kitchen!

Some is hard work...and some is pure joy!

Each family sets and decorates its own place at the table...

and all ages take an active part in the preparation!

We put on the final touches...

and the setting is ready.

The celebrants are ready, too.

Our Seder Meal begins!

There are ritual actions...

prayer...

singing...

learning...

...and sharing!

...and then, of course, there's cleaning up...until next year!
